RTU Telecommunications Institute at international conference "BIHTEL 2012" in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Institute of Telecommunications of Riga Technical University, Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications presented latest scientific research results in IEEE supported “IX International symposium on Telecommunications – BIHTEL 2012” that was held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, during October 25 - 27, 2012.

Being the ninth in a series of biennial symposiums, BIHTEL 2012 – IX International Symposium on Telecommunications, brought together researchers from academia and practitioners from industry active in the field of Telecommunications to discuss current development and future perspectives in Telecommunications technologies. BIHTEL 2012 is organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering University of Sarajevo in co-operation with BH Telecom, M:tel and other sponsors. BIHTEL 2012 Symposium takes place under technical co-sponsorship of IEEE Region 8, IEEE Bosnia and Herzegovina Section, IEEE Bosnia and Herzegovina Section Communications Society Chapter and IEEE Bosnia and Herzegovina Section Computer and Computational Intelligence Joint Societies Chapter.

BIHTEL 2012 provided a venue for Telecommunications engineering practitioners, researches and educators to exchange ideas on recent research work, point out the directions for future research and seek collaboration opportunities on all aspects of Telecommunications technologies.

Scientific personnel of RTU Institute of Telecommunications at this conference presented following research topics covering fiber optic access and transport networks:

• Vjaceslavs Bobrovs, Sandis Spolitis, Girts Ivanovs, Peteris Gavars - „Performance Improvement of High Speed Spectrum-Sliced Dense WDM-PON System”;
Vjaceslavs Bobrovs, Aleksejs Udalcovs, Rolands Parts,  Ilja Trifonovs - „Evaluation of the Maximum Permissible Transmission Distance for the Mixed-HDWDM Systems”.
The conference was widely attended by participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Germany, Croatia, United States, Turkey, Qatar, Iran, Egypt, Greece, Ukraine, Russia, Austria, Macedonia, Slovenia, Spain, Korea and Latvia.  This conference is technically supported by IEEE that confirms the importance of „BIHTEL 2012” for development of the whole engineering sector.
