One of our leading researcher’s Inna Kurbatska (see about us) paper has been accepted for presentation at the 13th international congress on ultra-modern telecommunications and control systems (ICUMT). The conference will take place online next week from 25th to 27th of October.

Investigated Questions
Research paper “Impact of the receiver and transmitter bandwidth on the performance of high-speed OFDM signal in Radio-over-Fiber Communication Systems” investigates the properties of the 5 Gbaud 32-quadrature-amplitude modulation orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexed (QAMOFDM) signal transmitted by RoF transmission system integrated into the passive optical network (PON). The paper analyzes the QAMOFDM signal transmission based on the receiver and transmitter bandwidth in terms of SER and EVM. This research also provides the evaluation of the impact of the increase of the bandwidth from 10 to 20 GHz as well as the impact of received optical signal power for 10G receiver for different QAM orders.
Obtained Results
As a result, the paper proves, that the impact of bandwidth decreases with the increase of the number of subcarriers (about 6 powers of SER or 0.7% of EVM). The difference between the impact of RX and TX bandwidth, on the contrary, increases demonstrating the dominance of TX bandwidth with the maximal SER difference of 6 powers of SER (corresponding to 2.5 difference in terms of EVM).

ICUMT is an IEEE premier annual international congress providing an open forum for researchers, engineers, network planners, and service providers. ICUMT targets newly emerging algorithms, systems, standards, services, and applications, bringing together leading international players in telecommunications, control systems, automation, and robotics. The event positions as a major international annual congress for the presentation of original results achieved from fundamental as well as applied research and engineering works. Brno University of Technology, Tampere University, RUDN University, and several industrial partners jointly organize the conference.
Following the success of the previous events normally attracting around 120 participants from both academia and industry, ICUMT 2021 is a three-day event offering a number of plenary sessions, technical sessions, and specialized workshops.
ICUMT 2021 homepage provides more information on the conference.
